Trusting your Planner

Trusting your Planner…
I understand. I am a control freak and I will be the first one to tell you this. I am working on it…
When looking at hiring a planner- be sure to talk as much as you can not only about your wedding, your vision and what you like vs. dislike but be sure to also talk about trust.
We understand about this being your day and this being your vision brought to life and we want to make sure you shine in all of your glory and walk into your dream wedding… but we need your trust.
I recently had a client who loved us- loved everything we recommended because we really got her vision. Enter- Mother of the bride. Mom, even though she had been with us from the beginning, did not share her daughter’s enthusiasm. It’s not that she didn’t like us- rather she thought she knew better. We had a marvelous selection of vendors who fit the bride’s personality and suited her “budget.”
Mother of the bride started making her own appointments with other vendors who were not my own and getting quotes. This is not a good way to go about things. Now- I have vendors who I knew would fit asking me where the contracts are as well as these vendors I don’t know thanking me for letting let meet with these clients. What went wrong??? Trust!
Once I called the bride to ask her what was really happening she didn’t even understand why or how her mother could do this. Once I spoke to Mom I was able to just let her know I really was looking out for her best interest to make her daughter’s
day the best it could be. With a little bit of tough love I spoke to her on why I sent her the vendors I did and why I did not send her to the vendors she choose.
Here is one example:
I can’t tell you enough how much lighting is essential in making your wedding actually have a felling to it. It can set the exact tone for your wedding and instantly change any mood. With this being said, enter- Ben Lawles from Kalidescope. This man is the lighting KING. Ben has a passion, the brains and artful eye for what he does. He checks power- checks what things that will work what won’t work- how to get you what you want no matter what. Ben was perfect for the job and we had a great 2 hour appointment at the venue where he brought sample lighting and examples. Done deal right?
Enter- hotel lighting company. Let’s make this short and sweet. This company sets up what they think is great and then you don’t see them until the wedding is done. They set it… and forget it. What if something went wrong? What if something needed to be adjusted? Nadda. Nothing. You have to deal with it.
Mother of the bride went as far as meeting the above and the Dj for lighting. Dj’s can be a great option but when you want something grand and lighting specific you need someone who knows the insides and outs. What happened in the end is that we have the best vendors for the best bride. Trusting your wedding planner is essential. You should be able to trust their recommendations, their guidance and let them assist you. No one won or lost but let’s just say the experts… always outshine the rest 😉
