Carnival inspired egnagement: Michelle and Vinh

We cannot wait for Michelle and Vinh’s wedding!!!! LOOK at these engagement photos! These two have it goin’ on!

We asked the couple to share some of their life with us since we are going to be hosting the event to send them off as husband and wife. Seems right?!!! Here is a little bit about our amazing couple:

Michelle Nguyen:

I was born in Orlando, Florida in August of 1983.  I spent my life growing up in Orlando being the typical asian playing piano, tennis and ballet.  I went to the University of Florida for my undergraduate prerequisites in Pharmacy and went to Nova Southeastern for my Pharmacy degree.  I then furthered my career with a Pharmacy Residency. I met many of my closest friends at UF and Nova. It was at Nova where I decided to have my first child, Gizmo. He’s one of my spolied dogs, a Yorkie, and he loves me to death. I currently work as a drug dealer at the Florida Hospital as a pharmacist.  I love food, traveling, and different cultures.  That’s what makes life so interesting!  I love to cook even though I am not that great but I have plenty of time to practice! If you complain how messy I am in the kitchen, you’ll get instant noodles instead! I thank God for my wonderful family, friends and Vinh.

Vinh Nguyen
I was born in Titusville, Florida in April of 1982. I have two older brothers, Minh and Trung. I grew up in Cocoa, Florida and went to Saint Mary’s Catholic School where I met some of my closest friends. I had a dual life growing up: one spent in Cocoa/Rockledge with my school friends and one spent in Orlando with my Asian friends. I spent my undergraduate and graduate life at the University of Florida where I had some of the best times of my life! Throughout my life I held a lot of odd jobs: I was a server named Pepe at a Mexican Restaurant; I was a detail engineer at a car dealership; I was a drug dealer at the local pharmacy; and I was a server at Outback (bonzer!). These jobs all prepared me for the real life and my current job with the U.S. Department of State. You could say I am a diplomat, sort of. My favorite TV show growing up was CHiPs. Now my favorite shows are Chuck and 24, which explains why I love my job. To sum it all up, I’m blessed with Michelle, my family, my friends, and complete job security.

How We Met

Vinh’s version:
Michelle is the best thing that ever happened to me. We met a long time ago through my Orlando Asian connection and would hang out on the weekends as a group. We would all go bowling, watch movies, go to theme parks, all the usual stuff. It wasn’t until I was at UF that I realized how amazing Michelle was. I remember she went up to UF for a Vietnamese event and we were playing Mario Kart. After she left that weekend, it felt like a part of me left with her. That was when I decided to court her and we have been together since, an amazing nine years! We’ve traveled the world together and survived the good and bad times. She is my first true love and I can’t imagine a life without her. She supports my passion for travel and living abroad. She’s a super smart pharmacist who always sells herself short, and best of all, she’s going to be my sugar momma when I retire!

Michelle’s version:
I first saw Vinh at this Hai Ba Trung festival where he had the typical asian bowl haircut and was skinny and lanky.  I was thinking “Ewww”.  It wasn’t until a couple of months later we met through friends and I remembered it was the same lanky kid at the festival.  He did get a haircut by then.  After getting to know Vinh, I realized what a great guy he was.  I had a crush on him for 3 years in high school but was too shy to show any signs.  My senior year in high school, I finally shifted gear and turned on my game. And *bam*! I got him hooked! We went through many challenges together through these nine years which only helped makes us stronger together.  Now, I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him!
