What is a wedding planner? What is their purpose? What are the benefits/how will this benefit me?

I have been there. Engaged that is. What an exciting time! My husband and I dated for what seemed liked forever but was in reality two and a half years. When he asked me- of course I said “YES!”- and within minutes I pulled out my own personal wedding planning folder to show my new fiancé. Mathew (my husband) looked at me like I was crazy (I am), and told me that I better not make this work.

I understand where he is coming from. Before I was able to get upset at this comment I realized I didn’t even soak in the fact that we were engaged to be married. I shut my folder of dreams and just enjoyed his company.

One, of the many, reasons to get a wedding planner is to enjoy these moments. What we supply to our brides is assistance, advice and guidance. The best thing you can do is hire a planner just after you get engaged. There are so many options out there that you may not know when to start. Even if someone recommends someone or someplace to you- there may be better options for you. At your initial meeting with a planner you should be interviewing their service but also how much they understand your vision. Someone who can get to know you and your personality is able to send you to appointments with vendors and venues that will fit you and your special day.

We have a bride who recently hired us because she said she felt like we were really listening. This bride had interviewed another planner but did not feel as if this person was really listening to her style and visions. She proposed full planning and handed her a generic list of vendor the planner liked. What’s the difference between us and the other planner?

I can only speak for An Affair to Remember but

I am checking to see what your style is, to see what is important to you etc. This way I can recommend what we can provide to you through our services and while I would send over our vendor list, you will see ones specifically picked out for you.

The point. When you get engaged and it actually becomes a reality of how important and special this day is, hiring a wedding planner is a way for your to get the right start that is stress free and keeps you enjoying those moments with your fiancé.

Again, this is just one of the MANY reasons to hire a planner. Even I was once a bride and I trusted my team to pull off my most precious of days that started my marriage off beautifully!
